From Darkness to Light in the Prison!

Joseph Lious

Retrenched in 2003 and relying in odd jobs, Joseph Lious – a victim of circumstances – entered the prison in 2014 to serve a 5 year sentence leaving behind his wife and two children. Fearful, lonely and wondering why life had brought him to this place and yet not understanding anything. Far away from God, he tried to settle in life in prison not knowing that man’s disappointments are God’s appointments.

In prison he began to observe the other Christians who prayed and read their Bibles. One of them began to speak to him about God. An inmate who was leaving passed him a small bible to read. He tried to read despite not having any glasses and sometimes borrowing them from others.

Encouraged by the other prisoners he began to attend the Christian Fellowship classes conducted in the prison by Prison Fellowship Malaysia (PFM) – Selangor Chapter. There he began to hear the Voice of God. The power of God’s Word began to touch him. Little by little he noticed changes in himself. Once he heard God speak to him about how much God loved him and cared for him and how God put him in a safe place. He began to understand the power of prayer. Other prisoners and officers also notice the changes in him. There in prison he yielded himself to God. He noticed the favor of God upon his right inside the prison walls. He began to bear witness to other prisoners and encourage them. Some were blessed and some turned to the Lord.

By the miracle of God, he was released in November 2017 after serving 3 1/2 years, inclusive of 10 months parole. Volunteers from the PFM Selangor Chapter continued to follow up with him.

Now after being baptised and settled in a local church, Joseph Lious to be a witness of God’s mercy and goodness upon his life.

Glory to God

NOTE: Joseph Lious went to be with the Lord on 26th December 2020
