TESTIMONY OF JAMES GAN

Background

Hello everyone, my surname is Gan and my name is WingSoon. 41 years old. I am from Tangkak (JOHOR). When I was in the primary 5, I was a naughty, mischievous child who did not like to read books. I often skipped school and hid in a temple with a group of friends. At that time, I had a lot of bad habits. I joined gangster, smoking, and then took marijuana with a group of friends. We were expelled by the school because we often played truant.

In Prison – 1st Time

I was arrested when I smuggled ecstasy into Singapore to the checkpoint in 1999. At that time I was sentenced to three strokes and 13 months. After being released from prison, I did not know to repent.

1st Knowledge of Jesus

 In 2000, my aunt and the pastor shared the gospel and I got to know Jesus. But then I was just brushing my family off. I was baptized two years later. In 2013, I left God and walked back to the old ways. I was in the temple with a group of friends, and I became a medium. I participated the birthdays of different deities. The pierced needle marks left on my body  I pierced was the sign that I betrayed my soul to the devil.

In Prison – 3rd Time and God’s merciful reminder through another ex inmate

In 2018, I was sentenced to prison for possessing large amount of drugs. I was really scared at that time because I could be sentenced to death. At that time, there was a Christian inmate. When he came to care about me, he said: Only God can save you from this-the death penalty. I told him that I am also a Christian, but I left God. He told me that you confess your sins and pray for confession and repentance, and God will surely save you. I invited him and we prayed together. How should I pray? He told me that you want to confess your sins to God. I invited him to pray with us from morning to night. The prayer at that time was like this, I said: If God saves me from this-death sentence, I am willing to use my whole life to serve the Lord. The inmate told me at that time if you could be acquitted in this case. You have to remember that there is a pastor who can help you if you really want to give up drugs.

Connected to Prison Fellowship Volunteer

I went to court on January 6, 2019. The court sentenced me to jail for one month. At that time, my heart was filled with gratitude towards God. On February 7, 2019, I was released from prison. I was holding a book with the phone number of Pastor Sam of then I contacted him.

When Pastor Sam arrived, I got into the car with Pastor Sam, and he asked me if you really want to give up drugs? I told him really.

I am very grateful to the Lord, it was Pastor Sam who led me to Breakthough Rehabilitation Centre.

In Rehab Centre

In these 18 months, I thought I was living a life, but I did not expect to have a disciplined life in the centre. I read the Bible every day and prayed. During this period, under the explanations and teachings of many teachers and pastors, I truly and slowly got to know this Lord. And under the leadership of the teacher, I accepted our Lord Savior in prayer and became my personal Saviour.

Current Status

I have completed this 18-month course, and I thank the Lord. Let me stay and continue to serve as an assistant. If Pastor Sam did not answer my call at that time. I can’t imagine what my life would be like. I am very grateful. Because God’s mercy has poured over me, it gave me the opportunity to be the assistant of the centre and be able to serve him. During this period, I really receive the grace of God. I want to dedicate my life to the Lord. I would like to give all the glory to us in the Lord, Amen.

背景
大家好，我姓严，我叫永顺。 41岁。我来自东甲（柔佛）。小学五年级的时候，我是个顽皮、捣蛋、不爱看书的孩子。我经常逃学，和一群朋友躲在寺庙里。那个时候，我有很多坏习惯。我加入了黑帮，抽烟，然后和一群朋友一起吸食大麻。我们被学校开除是因为我们经常逃学。

第一次 在监狱里

1999年，我走私摇头丸到新加坡的时候，到检查站时被捕。当时我被判处鞭打3下，入狱3个月。出狱后不知悔改。

第一次认识耶稣

在2000年，姑姑和牧师的带领下，我认识了耶稣。那时候我只是敷衍我的家人而已。两年后我受洗了。 在2013年，我离开了神，走回了老路。我和一群朋友在寺庙里，我成为了一个媒介。我参加了不同神灵的诞辰。我身上所穿过银针的痕迹，是我把自己的灵魂出卖给魔鬼的记号。

第三次 在监狱里 —— 上帝的仁慈提醒

在2018年，我因持有过量毒品被判入狱。当时我真的很害怕，因为我可能会被判 —— 死刑。当时，有一个基督徒狱友。他来关心我时，他说：只有上帝才能将你从死刑中拯救出来。我告诉他我也是基督徒，但我离开了上帝。他告诉我，你认罪并祈求认罪悔改，神一定会拯救你。我邀请了他，我们一起祷告。那我该怎么祷告呢？他告诉我，你要向神认罪。我邀请他从早到晚，我们一起祷告。当时的祷告是这样的，我说：如果神把我从这个死刑判决中拯救出来，我愿意用我的一生来事奉主。当时狱友告诉我，如果你能在这种情况下被无罪释放。你必须记住，如果你真的想戒毒，有一位牧师可以帮助你。

监狱事工

我于2019年1月6日出庭，法院判我入狱一个月。那时，我的心充满了对神的感激之情。 在2019年2月7日，我出狱了。我拿着一本书，上面写着SAM牧师的电话号码，然后我联系了他。 SAM牧师到了，我和SAM牧师一起上了车，他问我你真的要戒毒吗？我跟他说真的。 我很感谢主，是山姆牧师带我到突破康复中心。

突破宣道之家

在这18个月里，我以为我只是过日子，但没想到在中心过着有纪律的生活。我每天读圣经并祷告。这段时间，在很多老师和牧师的讲解和教导下，我真正地、慢慢地认识了这位主。在老师的带领下，我在祷告中接受了我们的救主，成为了我个人的救主。

现今

我已经完成了这 18 个月的课程，我感谢主。让我留下来继续担任助理。如果当时SAM牧师没有接听我的电话。我无法想象我的生活会是什么样子。我很感激。因为神的怜悯浇灌在我身上，让我有机会成为中心的助手，能够事奉祂。这段时间，我真的领受了神的恩典。我想把我的生命献给主。我愿在主里将一切荣耀归给我们在天上的父，阿门。
